Biography

Tenor Bastien Masset is originally from Gruyère. Born into a family of musicians, he devoted himself to the study of music at a very young age. After earning a professional certificate in music theory and a certificate in violin, he developed a passion for singing in various choral ensembles, including the Chœur de Radio France in Paris, the Kammerchor Stuttgart, the Zürcher Sing-Akademie, the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, the Balthasar Neumann Chor, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, and the Basler Madrigalisten.
His extensive choral career in Switzerland, France, and Germany has led him to perform under the baton of renowned conductors such as Daniel Reuss, Frieder Bernius, Gabriel García Alarcón, Nicolas Fink, Thomas Hengelbrock, Jonathan Nott, Tõnu Kaljuste, Renaud Capuçon, Christoph Eschenbach, and Raphaël Pichon.
Following his acclaimed debut in Thomas Leininger’s opera Les Dinos et l’Arche (as the Rat) at the Cité Bleue under the baton of Leonardo García-Alarcón and as the Evangelist in St. John Passion in Zug, his season continues with a series of concerts in Italy and Germany with the Kammerchor Stuttgart under the direction of Frieder Bernius and in Judas Maccabeus at the Händel-Festspiele in Halle.
